No. The checkerboard only indicates transparency in the preview. Export with a transparent background to keep transparency in the PNG.

Yes. Changing the aspect ratio fits the subject to the canvas. You can also move it, scale it proportionally or restore the full subject. Transparent and solid-color images export at the canvas dimensions you set.

AI separates the subject from the background automatically, keeping the main outline of the hair and removing enclosed gaps such as the space inside a mug handle. The stronger the color contrast between the subject and the background, the cleaner the edges. Transparent glass is cut out as a solid subject, and its inside keeps the background color that showed through in the original photo. Shooting against a color close to your new background helps it blend in.

For an existing background removal result, transparent or solid-color changes, composition adjustments, downloads and saving do not use additional credits. AI scene backgrounds are a separate generation that uses credits.

Uploads are limited to 30 MB per image. Each canvas edge can be up to 8192 pixels, with a total area of up to 32 million pixels. Available sizes also depend on the image and device; the page displays relevant limits.
